Testimonials

“On top of our wonderful wedding day we also had an excellent week of activities all expertly organised by Chrissie and David. On the Saturday night Alessandra came in and cooked for us, which was very welcome after a day of travelling, and on the Sunday night we had a wine tasting evening with antipasti which was enjoyed by all. On the Monday the boys played golf at a local course and had a meal in the clubhouse restaurant and the girls had a day at the villa and finally on the day after the wedding we had Alessandra return once more to prepare a sumptuous BBQ for us. Chrissie and David couldn’t have done more to make our whole week special both whilst we were there and in the 12 months leading up to the event. I think that the biggest compliment I could pay them is that we were delighted that they were able to attend our wedding as guests because they have become true friends to us over the past year.

We can’t wait to go back to Carmine at some point as it has given us memories for a lifetime.”

Wedding held in September 2014 at Chiesa Del Carmine

We stayed for 3 weeks with between 5 and 14 people. It was a repeat visit. Magnificent situation and beautiful renovation with all mod cons. Lovely swimming pool and outside eating area. Walks in the area have views for miles. There is something special about going into the vegetable garden and picking your own lettuce and tomatoes and aubergines. The property is very well appointed. But Chrissie and David provided everything we required whenever we asked for something. Chiesa Del Carmine is my favourite vacation spot.”

“We and our friends have returned to this Villa numerous times since 2009. We find it to be an extraordinary place. The views overlooking the valley ( and golf course) are almost indescribable The Villa is in excellent shape and roomy, well designed. We always take it with a rotating group of six couples which it serves well. We particularly like the placement of the pool and outdoor eating space which we use almost every night. All amenities are available and the Golf club actually has an excellent restaurant.

Of particular note is the management and service team that cares for the villa and for its guests. Hard to find a more responsive and caring group .
We strongly recommend this Villa and love the area of Umbria where it is located. It is convenient to Tuscany/ Assisi, the wonderful small local hill towns such as Spello, Bevagna, Montefalco, etc. Food is excellent and the stores in Umbertide ( 15 minutes) are terrific and incredibly fresh . Strongly recommend asking Chrissie (Manager) to arrange a Chef to cook.

Chrissie the manager was great to deal with during reservation process, and even more so when we got lost coming to the property, sending her husband to meet us. The house is out in the Umbria countryside, about a 30 minute drive north of Perugia, and a great central location for visiting other hilltop towns in Tuscany and Umbria.

We were literally welcomed like old friends which was amazing given we had never before met our hosts, David and Chrissie!! After several hours of travelling from the other side of the planet, it was so much appreciated. We arrived late in the evening and Chrissie had taken the liberty of providing some breakfast for us the next morning. It’s the little things that make all the difference. We stayed two weeks in the Il Fienile cottage that sleeps 4-6. We are a family of 4 with two children aged 9 & 11. Il Fienile is a farmhouse full of charm and comfort. There is so much to do, not only at Casa San Gabriel but also exploring in the many lovely villages close by. The country walks through the Umbrian hills were breathtaking, guided often by their pet dog Cuba! Views down the valley as far as the eye could see, – all the way to Assisi. All the guests really loved their famous pizza nights where you create your own toppings and have them cooked in a six hundred year old bread oven!! This was a highlight of our trip. It really was like being part of the family. Chrissie and David were full of brilliant advice on where to go and what to see, based on your own likes and dislikes and nothing was ever too much trouble. We are all looking forward to going back one day to visit our ‘old friends’!! This place is very special!
